This time next week I will be the Mayor of Newbury. I hope to use this blog to keep a diary of the year, to use as a record of events I attend, and the people I shall meet. If I get the hang of this I can also add some photos!
Today I'm going to have another bash at writing my speech for next Sunday - no pressure really, just got to read it out on stage to 400 or so people! I know I'm supposed to enjoy the day, but unlike the popular image of politicians I really don't like the sound of my own voice.
I'm doing this as a public blog, so more people can find out about what a Mayor actually does, and people I meet during the year can log on and read about their organisations, and what else is going on.
